Site Tour

This is the first site tour of several that will be posted by way of introduction to the MODish.net site. More tours will be added soon.

This is the My Account page. You access this page, once you are registered and logged in, directly under a menu heading that appears in the leftmost column (called the left sidebar). If you are not logged in or registered, you may want to do so before proceeding with the tour. The menu heading will display your Username where the phrase "Site Tour" is currently located. If you are not logged in, there will only be the Navigation menu and only a few items will be visible and you. You must be logged in to fully participate in the community--create any content, vote, comment, blog, write stories, private message, place free classified ads...

Once logged in, click on My Account and you will be taken to your My Account page. At the top of this page, you will again see your Username, followed by a number of options that may include:

My Classified Ads List. Registered members may list in our classifieds section for free. The ads you post and their expiration dates will be listed here with the option to edit them.

My Notification Settings. Again, registered members may opt to having notifications sent to them of new content. New website information is automatically emailed to you several times a day.

Subscriptions. Throughout the site you will see links at the bottom of articles, blogs, forum topics, and other content that say Subscribe post. By clicking Subscribe post, you will be notified of updates on this thread's content and comments as it occurs.

Contact. Reach MODish.net's webmaster. Please let me know if something isn't working, if you have any suggestions, if inappropriate content has been posted by a user member, or if you'd just like to send me a kind word or chat.

Track Page Visits. Follow your own footsteps. Following this link will take you to a database table of everywhere you've been for the last few days. This is handy if you want to find something you recently visited.

Your Personal Files. Here you will find a record of your attachments that you posted on your blog, various pages, or comments. You can manage those files here.

Now if you look under the Username, you will find History followed by Blog. Under that is View recent blog entries and a date. The date indicates how long you've been a member of the new website. The Blog links take you to your most recent blogging. Straightword stuff.

Private Messages comes next and is followed by Write a Private Message. You may contact other members through this site's private message system. All you need to know is their username. If you don't completely remember their username, all you have to do is type a single letter in the box. Automatically a list of choices will pop up and you may select the appropriate username from the drop down. Give the system a second or two to register your typed letter. Soon we will also be adding a buddy list that will make this even simpler.

Finally you see Points. In order for MODish.net to become a vital community of networked vintage modern enthusiasts, we need participation. Every time a member submits a story, a blog, a comment, a forum topic, et cetera--that registered member earns points. Top point earners will probably be awarded access to premium content or even more. Stay tuned on that one.

As a logged in user, you will see menu other options in the left side bar besides My Account. They include My Blog, My Inbox, My Subscriptions, Search, User List, User by Points, and Create Content. The My Blog link takes you to your blog where you may view your blog entries and Post a new blog entry. You can also post a new blog entry by going to the Create Content link in the user menu and select Blog.

My Inbox will take you to your Private Message page where you will see your new and saved messages, compose new messages, and contact the webmaster.

The Subscriptions link is just a quick link to your subscriptions page and the Search link takes you to a search page that is available to all users.

User List permits registered members to private message other members. Users by Points is a talley of points earned for during a particular period of time. These will be reset from time to time to zero as a contest begins or ends.
