Stetson Catalina dish
I love this small dish with its curvaceous body and wonderful arching handle. I'm not sure what it was intended for--perhaps a sauce or gravy dish? It is decorated with a hand-painted floral decoration on the other side.
I cannot find this shape in the Stetson archives, incomplete as they are. This certainly does look like Catalina's style. Can you shoot a photo of the mark and I'm curious about the decoration too? Thanks!

This piece is unmarked but it was sold to me by a long-time modern design dealer as Stetson Catalina along with a Catalina sugar bowl. It seems to be very similar in clay body and weight as well as the glazing although the floral decoration is different from the sugar bowl. The decoration on this piece is a tulip design. I will try to post a photo later today of that.

Earl & Michael -
I have this piece as well with a marked (but, sadly, chipped) underplate. It is in the same floral pattern as the rest of my Charles Murphy Stetson Catalina items. It's a great piece!
Chipped or not, it's rare. I don't worry about flaws anymore if I run across the piece that rarely and I like it. If you get a chance, Antay, could you post some photos of your Murphy Catalina? I'd love to see what you've found.
Geez, those flowers behind you are almost plate-sized. What are they?

Hi Antay,
I second Mike's request for photos--I would love to see more of this shape. I know you collect Red Wing as well--do you mostly focus on Charles Murphy designs in Red Wing and Stetson?
Absolutely amazing!

Catalina, flowers
Mike, I'll take some pictures when I get home tonight. I've been without power for the last 12 hours due to a storm!
I've got a creamer, sugar, casserole, sauce boat & underplate, pitcher, and 4 tumblers all with a reddish-pink flower pattern.
And speaking of flowers, those are dahlias in the Frankfurt (Germany) botanical garden.
