Recent finds and other fun stuff
I believe this is a teapot designed by Eva Zeisel for the distributing company Charm House. I don't have the documentation for this line easily at hand, perhaps someone else knows more?
The teapot is not marked. The glaze is iridescent green and there is gilded areas on the handle, under the spout and around the lid edge.

Charm House
This is the Charm House teapot by Eva Zeisel. This is a remarkable find. I found one of these years ago and passed on it and now it has become a topic of hot discussion whether it existed or not. You will need to get a hold of Pat Moore, Earl regarding this find. I'll be forwarding this link to her. Terrific find. Don't sell that teapot! They'll need a photo for the book.
Documentation
Without much documentation of Eva's Charm House line, and without any markings, how did you ever identify this as the real deal? Congratulations, that's a great find!
Trade Ads
We have one or two ads, Scott that picture/describe the teapot. In the ad it is mentioned that it was designed by Eva Zeisel. That handle, though unusual, is clearly Zeisel, I think. Of course, Eva has the last word.
Lid
And the lid looks like a dead-ringer for the lid on the Town & Country soup tureen, doesn't it?
Soup Tureen Lid
I think so, Scott. If you get a chance (I know things are busy right now), maybe you could sometime post a picture of the soup tureen. I think it would be a blast to see the lids in close proximity.
The lid
The lid is one of the best parts of this teapot. It is somewhat concave on top and has one of Eva's little indentations at the center, one of her bellybuttons if you will, that we see in her plate designs for Hyalyn later. Unfortunately my Town and Country soup tureen is missing its lid. I believe though that this lid is a flat surface and that the edges are more crisp? The teapot lid's edges are rounded.
Trade ads as Mike said
Yes I remembered the shape from a trade ad--a copy of which I have somewhere in my messy apartment! The shape is also related to some of Eva's other teapot designs of the period. I will try to post some comparison photos soon.
Trade Ad
Thought I'd ad this information from the trade ad:
'New Styling in Teapots
"Ranch House"
sure grip handles
no-drip spout
Design by Eva Zeisel'
It says it came in 5 lustre colors with gold decorated spout and handle with an all-white interior. These were more expensive than the plain color selection which was available in green, yellow, or black with gold trim.
Also it apparently came in a 6 cup and an 8 cup version!
Congrats
Congratulations on this amazing find! Thanks also for posting a photo of the lid with the "belly button" detail -- it's fantastic.
I'm not familiar with Charm House. Is this a Homer Laughlin product?
