Is this the set that also
Is this the set that also comes in bubble/blister glass which some have confused for snowglass?
Sohn Glass Perspective
Yes, I've also seen it in something resembling snowglass, which is very attractive.
A mystery...
I find the Sohn Perspective glass a mystery. I have studied the career of Ernest Sohn extensively and haven't found any mention of this glass. Do you have any further information?
I know that the website Hi & Lo Modern ( www.hiandlomodern.com ) has a wonderful group of this for sale with the original labels intact. I wish I could afford the price! The shapes are great!
It is possible this line was touched on in a trade write-up or advertisement and I didn't notice. Perhaps I need to research this line further....
Sohn Perspective
Perhaps it was not widely distributed? The piece that I have came from a Tampa antique shop, but the woman who sold it to me said that she bought it in NYC.
Sohn Perspective
On a relatively recent visit (~6 months or so ago) to Minneapolis, there were several pieces of Sohn Perspective "snowglass" pieces available at one of the MCM shops in town. If I remember correctly, they weren't that expensive and the owner had no idea they were Sohn designs -- I'm sure he had them because of their resemblance to Russel Wright snowglass. I've seen a handful of other pieces for sale in the same area, so wouldn't be suprised if they were originally sold somewhere in Minneapolis. It has been my experience that the Twin Cities metro area contains a great quantity of great MCM decorative arts by designers who are just starting to become recognised for their work.
PM me if you want the name of the shop. I'd be happy to pass that along if you are still in the market. No promises that it is actually still there, but it might be worth a shot.
