With this 1957-1958 Metlox brochure page, entitled Art Treasures of the World, we are introducing a new category, Artware. This category is only for 20th century MODERN artware, not traditional styling. When we get enough posts, we will create a new section head.

Good idea! Would you consider Metlox Mosaic and Tropicana, for example, to be artware? With Tropicana especially, some of the items were designed for food service so I'm guessing not. Of course, I consider a lot of MCM dinnerware to be artware but I trust that isn't what you're looking for!
Metlox Mosiac and Tropicana were both in this artware catalog, but I was referring to artware in the sense of purely decorative items as opposed to functional dinnerware. But you are right, it appears that Metlox considered Mosaic and Tropicana to be artware.
Mike, first--thanks for adding this category. Second--I think it is interesting how each of these items is a modern take on traditional forms. They are modern, but in decoration only. Did this occur to you?
The Corinthian horse looks the most stylized. You should see the Royal American Horse collection in this brochure. Very traditional. Stark contrast.
But you're right, these are hybrid modern designs.
