Buffetware

Submitted by tennebrac on Thu, 08/09/2007 - 9:11pm.

I didnt' know that Glidden had a buffetware line. I think that this shape is wonderful. The color of the bowl looks a lot like the color of Glidden's lazy susan (I believe called "lazy daisy") which is also an item that would fit in with buffetware line.

Laizy Daizy

Submitted by youngmoderns on Fri, 08/10/2007 - 3:22pm.

The "Laizy Daizy" lazy susan (that was its trade name) was produced by Glidden but it was introduced separately from this line. It was actually designed by Ernest Sohn when he still worked for Glidden's distributor at the time, Rubel and Company. The Laizy Daizy was introduced to the trade during the summer trade shows of 1950. It seems that it was popular because it shows up fairly regularly. Sohn continued to design similar lazy susans with individual removable dishes and rotating center bases for the next 15 years under his own trademark.
