Forum International

Forum International buffetware chip-and-dip with suspended sauce insert from 1966, catalogued as item number 411 in Forum International brochures. The base is made of a cardboard substrate coated in plastic resin (which is not completely unlike Asian lacquer-ware), while the handle is rattan wrapped brass and the insert is transfer decorated ceramic. A typical Seibel form from one of his more uncommon lines. The handle particularly references earlier examples of his work.

buffetware
This has to be a fairly hard item to find complete. I'm very partial to rattan covered handles, so you can bet I'm fond of this chip-and-dip.
Rattan Handles
I'm a huge fan of rattan handles myself, Mike! I have a fairly substantial collection of barware with rattan-wrapped handles which is nicely complemented by Forum International buffetware.
I actually found this chip and dip in a thrift shop. I came across the base first, and was really disappointed that it wasn't the full set ... but for a whopping one dollar I certainly wasn't going to pass it up. About 15 minutes later on the opposite side of the store I found the ceramic insert. I figured I could spare the additional 50 cents to have a complete set!
