Copper and Color Casserole and Chafing Dish

These are examples of other items in the Copper and Color line. They exhibit Sohn's penchant for combining materials in one item. The black painted steel and wood, the copper lids and stands, as well as the white ceramic were combined by Sohn in a exciting way (at least in my opinion!) They date from 1952/1953.

Do you have a list of the items available in Copper and Color?

Not as organized as you Mike...

I haven't put together an inventory list of items so far--perhaps someday. I know there were a number of other items though such as an "Party Pail" ice bucket, a double casserole on stand, and a casserole with a ceramic stick handle.

I was wondering about the Party Pail. It looked like it belonged.

Briard tried to do the same by combining metal, glass and wood, but this is really much nicer.

Copper & Color's Colors

Submitted by mpratt on Tue, 08/14/2007 - 11:23am.

I decided to go through some of my Sohn files and I discovered that Copper & Color (June, 1953 ad) was available, not surprisingly--given the name, in not just white, but green and chartreuse as well. Can't say I've ever seen either of those colors.

I think there were at least four

I have seen advertisements listing white (advertised at least once as "Snow White"), green (called "Forest Green" in one advertisement and "Hunter Green" in another), chartreuse as well as "Charcoal" or "Grey". I have not seen any of these colors either but they must have been produced since they do appear in period trade features. I think the white with the black and copper is quite attractive and appealing to most--and probably what sold the most.
